Session Description:
The course will cover the essentials of procedures involved in practice of nephrology. This will include didactics and hands-on simulation of:
1. tunneled dialysis catheter insertion, exchange and removal;
2. PD catheter insertion;
3. Kidney biopsy;
4. Angioplasty, stent placement and thrombectomy of hemodialysis vascular access;
5. Ultrasound evaluation of kidneys and urinary bladder, vascular access, lungs, and limited cardiac evaluation.
Learning objectives:
1. To understand basics of tunneled HD catheter and PD catheter procedures
2. To learn basics of percutaneous kidney biopsy
3. To learn physical examination of AV fistula and endovascular management of AVF stenosis and thrombosis
4. To learn ultrasound evaluation of kidneys and urinary bladder, vascular access, lungs, and limited evaluation of heart
