Dr. Honsová is nephropathologist in the Czech Republic who trained at the Charles University in Prague under the supervision of Professor Stejskal. She served as the head of the Department of Clinical and Transplant Pathology at IKEM (the largest transplant center in the Czech Republic) for 20 years. She had used her practical experience to train visiting nephropathologists; especially from the eastern part of Europe and also from Libya and Mongolia. She lectures at the Charles University and also at a number of international nephropathology meetings. She has significantly contributed to the discovery of new mutation in the SAA1 promoter that causes hereditary AA amyloidosis occurring in the absence of systemic inflammation. She is a country representative in ESP Nephropathology WG and a member of ISN Nephropathology WG, and ISN Eastern and Central Europe Regional Board.
