Professor Edwina Brown is a consultant nephrologist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and is President of the International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis. She is a principal organizer of the annual Supportive Care for the Renal Patient meeting and the UK PD Academy. She has published extensively on peritoneal dialysis, outcomes of older people on dialysis and renal palliative care and has over 200 publications. She was the principal investigator of several multicentre studies: EAPOS (European APD Outcome Study); BOLDE (Broadening Options for Long-term Dialysis in the Elderly) and FEPOD (Frail Elderly Patient Outcomes on Dialysis). Her current study is Kidney Transplantation in Older People (KTOP) which is due to be completed during 2023. She co-chaired the ISPD guideline committee (2014-2020) and chaired the group developing the 2020 guideline on ‘Prescribing high quality, goal-directed peritoneal dialysis’. She co-chaired the KDIGO controversies conference on symptom-based complications in dialysis in May 2022.
