New Advances in RRT Technology

31 Mar 2023 08:30 10:00
Ballroom 1
Arkom Nongnuch Chairperson Nephrology unitThailand
Narayan Prasad Chairperson Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical SIndia

Session Description:
For over half a century, therapy for kidney failure has consisted of either kidney dialysis or transplantation. While transplantation outcomes have significantly improved, availability of kidneys does not meet needs, thus this is a rationed resource. Hemodialysis and Peritoneal dialysis are available treatment modalities in most countries, but outcomes have not substantially improved and technology advances have been limited. This session will describe current innovations targeting improved patient outcomes, and expanded choices for therapeutic options.

Learning Objectives:
An increased understanding of the immunobiology of transplant rejection, and how the use of genome editing technologies are advancing the possibility of successful xenotransplants. An increased awareness of the latest advances in dialysis vascular access. Increased knowledge concerning efforts to transform technology used for both wearable peritoneal dialysis, and implantable hemofiltration.
