Session Description:
Peritoneal Dialysis is a well-established treatment modality, providing similar survival outcomes to hemodialysis, while increasing patient autonomy. This session will describe best practices at the patient level and at the programmatic (systems) level, especially in low and low-middle income countries.
Learning Objectives:
An increased appreciation for hearing the patient voice, eg what are the symptoms and treatment considerations that matter most to patients. An increased ability to assess nutritional status and overcome nutritional deficiencies related to either the treatment or the underlying condition (uremia) in dialysis patients.
