Dr. Bagshaw is a Professor and Chair, of the Department of Critical Care Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, at the University of Alberta. He trained at the University of Calgary (Internal Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, Master of Science Epidemiology) and the Austin Hospital (Critical Care Nephrology) in Melbourne, Australia. He also serves as the Scientific Director of the Alberta Health Services Critical Care Strategic Clinical Network. Dr. Bagshaw is supported by a Canada Research Chair in Critical Care Outcomes and Systems Evaluation. He has research expertise in clinical epidemiology, clinical trials, and health services research. His research focuses on acute kidney injury, vulnerable populations (e.g., elderly, frail), ICU organization and capacity. He is co-Chair of the multi-national STARRT-AKI trial. He has contributed to over 500 published peer-reviewed papers. Dr. Bagshaw is a member of several organizations including the Canadian Critical Care Society, Canadian Critical Care Trials Group, and the Acute Disease Quality Initiative.
