Dr Jennifer Lees is a Senior Clinical Research Fellow and Honorary Consultant in Renal Medicine at the University of Glasgow. She graduated from the Universities of Cambridge and Edinburgh then moved to Glasgow to train in renal and internal medicine. During her PhD, she was the chief investigator on the ViKTORIES trial, testing vitamin K supplementation to improve vascular health in kidney transplant recipients. She was a co-investigator on the K4Kidneys vitamin K trial in people with CKD 3b/4. Her research interest is in using data science to explore strategies to mitigate the long-term risks associated with CKD, particularly cardiovascular disease and cancer. She has a particular interest in the use of cystatin C to risk-stratify patients with CKD. In 2022, Dr Lees won two prestigious young investigator awards for this work: the UK Kidney Association “Raine Award” and the European Renal Association’s inaugural “Eberhard Ritz Award” for Clinical Science.
