A/Prof Tan is currently the Head and senior consultant at the Department of Renal Medicine, Singapore General Hospital. He is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the National University of Singapore Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and a Clinical Associate Professor at the Duke-NUS Medical School. His main interest is in the area of Interventional Nephrology. He was awarded the Singapore Health Services Human Manpower Development Program Scholarship for further sub-specialty training in Interventional Nephrology in 2011. He completed his interventional nephrology training at the Massachusetts General Hospital, United States of America in 2013. Upon his return, he set up the interventional nephrology suite as part of a multi-disciplinary service comprising of Interventional Nephrologists, Radiologists and Vascular Surgeons in Singapore General Hospital. On the average, the interventional suite performed approximately 900 dialysis access related procedure each year, including thrombolysis, angioplasty, stenting and tunneled hemodialysis catheter procedures. He also started a training program for endovascular procedures for nephrologist in the Singapore General Hospital and the region. The training program has hosted both observership and hands on training program for nephrologists in the region.
