Mr. Conway is Chair of Policy & Global Affairs, and a past president, for the American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP), the largest kidney patient organization in the USA. As a patient, he has managed kidney disease for 46 years, including 3 years on home peritoneal dialysis and, for the past 25 years, with a kidney transplant. His career includes posts under 4 U.S. presidents, 3 Commonwealth of Virginia governors and in support of 5 U.S. presidential transitions. He has substantial experience with U.S. federal and state government emergency preparedness and his honors include the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary's Silver Medal for exceptionally meritorious service to America. He is engaged in research and innovation initiatives across multiple U.S. agencies, is Chair of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Patient Engagement Advisory Committee and is a recipient of the President's Award from the American Society of Nephrology.
