Session Description:
Drug-induced AKI is an important and preventable cause of AKI, both in community and hospital acquired-AKI. This session will cover a comprehensive overview of evaluation, recognition, management and prevention of drug-induced AKI in adults and children, the role of electronic alerts for identification of high-risk nephrotoxicity patients and early diagnosis of kidney function deterioration associated to drugs in the hospital setting and will discuss a escalating problem, the issue of drugs nephrotoxicity in onco-nephrology.
Learning Objectives:
To become familiar with the currently most relevant nephrotoxic drugs. To be able to identify high risk patients and install protective measures for AKI prevention. To be able to make early diagnosis of kidney deterioration and act to avoid further damage. To increase awareness of the importance of drug nephrotoxicity in oncologic patients.
