Dr Eliana Diná-Batlle is the Medical Director of the Renal Center at Hospital Metroplitano de Santiago (HOMS), one of the largest hemodialysis centers in the caribbean and the largest in the Dominican Republic where she coordinates a group of physician, nurses and staff who make important contributions across patient care. She is also the Medical Director of the Kidney Transplant Program at HOMS. To this date, she has led nearly one hundred renal transplants, and is underway to initiate Cadaveric renal transplantation, in the second most populated city in the Dominican Republic, Santiago de los Caballeros.She received her medical degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) from 1986-1992. She was an Internal medicine resident and later completed a nephrology fellowship at the Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Médicas y de la Nutrición Salvador Zubirán (INCMNSZ) in Mexico from 1993-1999. Dr. Diná has served as a primary investigator in multiple clinical trials and is the only Dominican with the designation "Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology" (FASN). She belongs to several boards and groups of experts in Latin America, such as the PAHO for early kidney disease, and the Latin American Society of Nephrology and Hypertension (SLANH) as an expert in Diabetic Nephropathy.She is the former President of the Dominican Society of Nephrology and Clinical Professor of Medicine (Nephrology) at PUCMM and HOMS providing mentorship to medical students, residents and fellows. Today, much of her work involved consultative nephrology, preventive nephrology, kidney transplantation and clinical research.
