Ramón García-Trabanino is a nephrologist from El Salvador. He has been assisting patients with Mesoamerican endemic Nephropathy CKDu since 1999 when his team first described the disease. He has published over 20 papers related to CKDu, and his discovery earned him the Salvadoran National Award to Medical Research.Trained in Barcelona, Spain, works at the Centre of Haemodialysis in San Salvador city, as volunteer nephrologist for the Emergency Social Fund for Health of Tierra Blanca, Bajo Lempa region, and as research collaborator of the Boston University School of Public Health group for CKDu.He is the past president of the Society of Nephrology of El Salvador and is currently Co-chair of the Committee for Mesoamerican Nephropathy and Board member of the Continuing Medical Education Institute of the Latin American Society of Nephrology.
