Dr. Alejandro Ferreiro-Fuentes graduated from the University of the Republic of Uruguay, completed the Internal Medicine Residence, the postgraduate in Nephrology and the postgraduate in Health Services Management.He is Associate Professor at Universidad de la República, and integrates the National System of Researchers (SNI-ANII).Main research areas are:1) Epidemiology and health-care planning for CKD and its complications. 2) AKD: prevention, epidemiology, clinical, and long-term outcomes.He was President of the Uruguayan Society of Nephrology, the Latin American Society of Nephrology and Hypertension (SLANH), member of the Executive Committee of the Latin American Registry of Dialysis and member of the Acute Kidney Injury Group. The scientific production has been published in books, review articles, reports or complete scientific articles in regional and extra-regional indexed journals. He has participated as a guest lecturer in multiple courses, conferences and symposia.
