Dr. Yang is the Professor of Medicine in the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Department of Nephrology and the Vice President and Dean of the Chang Gung University College of Medicine. Dr. Yang was the vice Chair of Research and Development at Chang Gung Medical Foundation, director of the Medical Research Department, and chair of the Department of Internal Medicine. In order to better understand the pathophysiological mechanisms behind the most prevalent kidney illnesses in Taiwan, create novel therapies, and foster international cooperation, Dr. Yang founded the Chang Gung Kidney Research Center in 2004. For his research on kidney diseases caused by infections, particularly leptospirosis, he was given the National Science Council's Distinguished Research Award. He also received the Taiwan Society of Nephrology's Outstanding Contribution Award in 2014 and the National Healthcare Quality Award in 2023. Dr. Yang served as a Kidney International editorial board member, editor for the journal Nephrology, and section editor for the journal Nephron Second Opinion. He served as the Executive Councilor at the Taiwan Society of Nephrology and was the Chair of the International Affairs Committee. He served as an executive council member of APSN, an ISN councilor, and the deputy chair of the ISN North and East Asia Regional Board. He now oversees the ISN Sister Renal Center program as its chair. His primary research interests, in addition to medical education, include dialysis-related research, infection and kidney disease research, and immunological mediated injury research.
