Session Description:
This session will provide a comprehensive overview of the epidemiology of chronic kidney disease, with specific focus on the incidence, prevalence and risk factors of CKD in LIC and LMIC. Knowledge of the predictor factors of CKDu will also be presented. Epidemiological data describing the disparities in access and outcomes by gender, race, ethnicity and socioeconomic status will be explored. A review of current and novel therapeutic strategies for the prevention of CKD progression and management of advance stage CKD will be discussed.
Learning Objectives:
An in-depth understanding of the epidemiology of CKD and the epidemiological tools to study the impact of CKD in vulnerable populations. An increased understanding of the epidemiology of CKDu. An increased awareness of the social disparities of CKD, access to care and outcomes, particularly in LMIC and LIC. Knowledge of novel therapeutic interventions to prevent the progression of CKD.
