Victor Puelles Universitätsklinikum Hamburg-EppendorfGermany

Dr. Victor Puelles received his MD from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia (Lima, Peru) in 2009 and his PhD from Monash University (Melbourne, Australia) in 2015. After multiple postdoctoral fellowships in Melbourne, Aachen, and Hamburg, he was appointed Professor of Complex Tissue Analysis at the University Medical Centre Hamburg-Eppendorf and Aarhus University. His laboratory focuses on the development and application of tissue-based technologies to dissect pathophysiological processes in a well-characterized spatial context at different biological scales, including whole organs, intact functional structures, single cells, and subcellular compartments. While his team aims to decode kidney diseases, their technologies are applicable to any medical field, including virology (eg. COVID-19), neurobiology (eg. cerebral malaria), gastroenterology (eg. immune-mediated colon and liver disorders), endocrinology (eg. obesity and diabetes), and hematology (eg. bone marrow fibrosis).
