Dr. Youhua Liu is currently a Professor of Pathology and holds the UPMC endowed chair in tissue biology at the University of Pittsburgh. He is also a Professor of Medicine at the Nanfang Hospital, Southern Medical University. Dr. Liu's research is focused on dissecting the cellular and molecular pathways that lead to kidney fibrosis and exploring novel strategies for therapeutic intervention. Current studies in his laboratory include dissecting several key signal pathways such as Wnt/beta-catenin and hedgehog in the pathogenesis of renal fibrosis and developing therapeutic strategies aimed at ameliorating renal fibrosis and kidney dysfunction. He has published more than 200 papers, with a total citation of 24,500 and h-index of 87. He serves on the Editorial Boards of 15 scientific journals such as JASN and Kidney Int. and is the Associate Editor, Guest Editor and Section Editor of several journals.
